For this wool sewing project you will need:
3 yards of fleece (1 yards of fleece and 2 yards of blanket if you want a different color hood/pocket)*
Rotary knives, rulers and transfer parts
Sewing supplies (sewing machines, needles, threads)
Free Patterns for Wool Fun (available at the bottom of the post by filling out the form)
* For males, your wingspan needs an extra 1/2 meter. If you want your quilt to be longer than 58 inches, you should also use an 85-inch extra-wide batting to make the quilt taller.

On the folded fabric, cut out the hood and outer pocket. you should have two
Cut 2 hand warmers on the folded baric.
If you're making a hooded fleece blanket from just one piece of fabric, you should straighten the ends (to make them even-straight) after cutting the pattern pieces. If using 2 fabrics, be sure to flatten the ends of the fabrics that make up the main part of the blanket.
Finally, for the fabric that will form the main part of the blanket, trim the selvedge. These are the edges of the blanket, with different textures, holes, and sometimes text and patterns.
So you should have 2 hoods, 2 pockets, 2 hand warmers...
The body of the blanket has trimmed edges and flat ends.
Step 2 - Make the quilt cover
Sew the back of the right side of the hood together with a 0.5" seam allowance.
After sewing, cut small slits in the curves so that the hood fits snugly.

Turn right.
Tuck 1" below the front edge of the hood. Sew zigzag stitches along the edges.
Set the hood aside.
Step 3 - Prepare Pockets and Hand Warmers
Take two bags of pattern pieces. Twist the tip (the non-rounded end) and twist it less than 1 inch so that it folds toward the back of the bag (left side touch). Sew zigzag stitches around the edge of each pocket.
Set the bag aside.
Get two hand warmers. Turn long diagonal edges to less than 0.5 inches. It should be folded back to the wrong side of the fabric.
Sew along the edge of each hand warmer with a zigzag stitch.
After sewing you will notice a small "tail" sticking out of the triangle, cut it off, being careful not to cut your stitches.
Repeat with another heater. Set the hand warmer aside.
Step 4 - Add a Hood and Hand Warmer to the DIY Fleece Blanket
Get the master blanket. We want the length of the blanket to be 56"-58" equal to the width of the fabric.
Mark the center on one side of the raw edge. This is easily done by folding it in half and marking it with a pin. The right side should be facing up.
Line up the center seam with the needle/mark you just made. Attach the hood to the right side of the blanket. Sew a 0.5" seam allowance.

Now is the time to sew the hand warmers on each side.
Attach the hand warmer to the left corner of the blanket, with the right sides together. Same side as the hood. Sew a 0.5" seam allowance.
Repeat the process with the right side of the blanket. On the other hand, sew the warmer with a 1/2-inch seam allowance. NOTE: It doesn't matter if the hand warmer and hood are completely overlapping, just make sure the hood is under the hand warmer.
It is now sewn. Let's make sure everything works.
Carefully trim some excess from the corners of the hand warmer and blanket to remove bulk. repeat on the other side

The pocket should be placed about 1/3 down - the top should be facing the same direction as the hood and placed 6 inches from the edge.
Nail and sew along the edges using a zigzag stitch.
Once the pockets are in place, it's time to finish the edges of the blanket.
Turn 0.5" below the edge of the blanket (wrong side contact) and zigzag along the edge. You can also stitch the hand warmer and hood if you want.

Best Fabrics for Blanket Hoodie
This pattern consists of 2 layers including a (faux) Sherpa lining and a fleece outer layer. Most are made of polyester, although there is some lint, there are different types of fleece that can be used to make blanket hoodies, ranging from plush fleece (my favorite, which I use in this post) to the fleece. It should be a little stretchy (10% is fine). Sherpa is also called wool, but in this article I will simply refer to it as Sherpa and the outer fabric as wool.
You can of course substitute any comfort fabric you like, but my favorite trick for finding quality fabric is to use an off-the-shelf lamb/wool blanket for the fabric length.
For the blanket hoodies I made, I used these Sherpa and wool blankets from Amazon. I bought the king size (108 x 90") and it has enough fabric to sew a loose adult blanket hoodie. For the kid size blanket hoodie pattern, the same quilt but the large provides enough fabric ( 90×90") and some leftovers. You can see how the adult size and kid size patterns fit in the quilt I linked above in the image below.
No matter which premade quilt you use, just check that the yardage is sufficient and consider any areas where the edges are stitched together.
Using pre-made blankets is usually less expensive than buying each fabric at a fabric store (if using bolted fabrics, look out for sales!), I like that they are already sewn together at the edges (let me be sure they are just sewn on the edges and not in the middle together), so I even put the outer layer and liner together and cut them off at a time.
You can also find Sherpa blankets at most local department stores, especially Costco! Costco usually has reasonably priced Sherpa fleece quilts, and even if you have to buy 2 to get enough yardage, it's probably still cheaper than buying a yardage at the fabric store (but again, keep an eye out for your favorite deals and coupons) fabric store). You may find great deals! ).
